Open to putting
'human' back in HR
– Published April 2024
In Finland, employers are legally required to provide occupational health services to their employees. This legal obligation is supposed to safeguard employee well-being in Finnish workplaces, yet it has become a low-to-bottom priority for most companies, who simply opt for the cheapest offer.
But could it be that businesses grow by caring for their people? Aava Medical wanted to challenge companies to see occupational health not as a legally mandated overhead expense, but as an investment in culture–and a cornerstone in their sustainable growth strategy.
We started from a simple, yet powerful truth: we are the same people, at work and at home. The arresting campaign visuals featured the same individual, portrayed twice, under the simple statement: “Humans, not resources.” The message was loud and clear: the (financial) well-being of a company depends directly on the well-being of its people. The campaign challenged Finnish employees to think beyond occupational healthcare and focus on developing a culture that generates wellbeing– at work and beyond.
